Spanish Theme Day
Thursday 29th June
Senior School Events

Last Tuesday the MFL department ran a Spanish Theme Day for years 7 & 8.  Pupils were able to take part in a variety of activities. In the art rooms they reconstructed Picasso’s memorial to the bombing of Guernica with a collage of newspaper.  Meanwhile in music they performed their own versions of the famous Habanera Aria from Bizet’s Carmen.  In the CMA pupils were taught to dance Flamenco: it was wonderful to see both girls and boys striding confidently across the hall, heads held high. And to sustain themselves during this long day, pupils also baked Spanish biscuits, whilst others decorated traditional sweet boxes in which to take the biscuits home.  It was a very enjoyable day for all concerned—so much so that the staff, enviously looking on from the sidelines, have requested to take part themselves next time!
