Football round up - OLA v Kingham Hill
Thursday 2nd February
Senior School Sports fixtures

OLA's footballers have been out in force this week against Kingham Hill. Thank you to Mr Barnett Head of Boys' PE for the report below.

Tue, 31st Jan

U13s v Kingham Hill won 3 – 2

This was a very entertaining fixture with two very even teams giving their best in an end to end fixture.  OLA were behind on 2 occasions during the game.  However  they kept coming back at Kingham Hill.  The majority of the 2nd half the boys were drawing and a draw looked like the likely outcome until Oliver W scored a great goal in which he calmly placed his shot in the bottom corner. OLA went home with a well-deserved victory.   A special mention for Oliver who had an outstanding game and scored all 3 goals, OLA’s Hat trick hero, and a great effort by all the squad.

The team – Oliver W, Jamie L, Freddie M, Freddie B, Will B, Ashley H, Daniel O, Leo W, Istvan B, Max L-T,  James S.

Tue 31st Jan

U12s v Kingham Hill won 5 - 2

The U12’s continued on their winning path with another excellent victory this time over Kingham Hill.  Some of the football the boys played was outstanding and there were some excellent goals scored in which several players were involved; it was a pleasure to watch.  It was not all one way traffic and Louis A in goal made some fine saves to keep Kingham Hill at arm’s length.  It was an excellent team performance and they can all be proud of their efforts so far this term.  Next week the U12s play Abingdon.

The team – Louis A, Oliver A, Gozie I, Scott U, Gabriel P-C, Matthew C, Tom M, Christian P,  Joel B, Augustine U.

Wed Feb 1st 6th Form v Kingham Hill

Result 1st half - Lost 1 – 3 v KH 1XI

Result 2nd Half – Won 6 – 0 v KH 2XI

The boys played two separate fixtures in each half of football today.  In the first half the boys played against a very good Kingham Hill team and on balance of play Kingham deserved to win.  However, OLA competed admirably until the end.  Kingham scored three excellent goals that the boys could not really do much about.  The second half against their 2nd XI was a different story.  OLA completely dominated the game and scored some very impressive goals.  Sam D scored the goal of the game with an audacious flick (see picture below).  Well done to all the boys.

The team – Ollie B, Baska R, Robson B, Alex S, Sam D, Saife M, Alex R, Teddy S, James O, Sam C.
