Extra-curricular activities provide vital experiences and opportunities and OLA Junior School offers an exceptionally wide and constantly changing choice to its pupils.
Pupils from Year 1 through to Year 6 have the opportunity to sample a variety of clubs or activities after school. There are approximately 25 clubs which run during the course of the week from 3.20 to 4.00pm. Each term the range of clubs changes to enable pupils to experience a rich and diverse mixture of activities. In parallel to this, we run a study class so that pupils can complete their homework before leaving the premises, freeing up their time after school to pursue other hobbies and activities.
Clubs on offer include:

OLA places a high value on out of school experiences which help to support and enrich classroom-based work. Every term each year group has at least one opportunity to learn away from the premises. Below is a list of some of the things that may take place in a normal year:
- Year 6 residential at Foxlease
- Year 3 residential at Hillend
- Sulgrave Manor
- Ashmolean Museum
- Didcot Power Station
- Natural History Museum & Pitt Rivers
- Sutton Courtenay Environmental Centre
- Abingdon Museum
- Canal Walk
- Henley Rowing Museum
As well as going out on school trips, we actively encourage visitors to come into school and work with the children to broaden their skills and knowledge. In the past we have had visits from a Roman soldier, a storyteller giving the children the gruesome details of Beowulf, Zoofari (with snake!), music workshops, ceramic workshops, Victorian workshops and much, much more!
