OLA Junior School caters for boys and girls from the age of 3 to eleven.  Our intake of pupils varies from year to year, but we are happy to consider entry into any year group at any point during the year if places allow.

In the Junior School we have three EYFS age groups; Nursery 1 (3 year olds), Nursery 2 (4 year olds) and Reception (5 year olds). Key Stage One is made of  Years 1 (6 year olds) and Year 2 (7 year olds) while from Year 3 to 6 children are in Key Stage 2 (7 – 11 year olds)

A major strength of OLA Junior School is its pastoral care which was described as “excellent” in our recent ISI Inspection Report. A Class teacher takes overall responsibility for the academic progress and pastoral care of a pupil in their class, with a range of other  staff available to help and support.

It is our aim to help every pupil to “be the best,” as recognised by our School Motto, “Age Quod Agis.”

We believe our success in pastoral care is due to the fact that we place such an importance on the child as an individual and that we are a small, family based school with excellent relationships between pupils and staff, as well as staff and parents. Indeed it is the partnership between home and school that ensures children reach their true potential – something also highlighted as excellent in the recent inspection report.

As a Catholic School, Christian principles are at the heart of all we do, although we warmly welcome boys and girls of all faiths or none. There are many opportunities for spiritual growth, including a programme of worship both as a whole school and as separate classes.

OLA operates a thriving House System and each pupil on entry to the School is allocated a place in one of the four houses namely; More, Rich, Bowyer and Challoner. A variety of inter-house sporting, academic and cultural activities take place throughout the year.

For prospective pupils we offer ‘taster’ days, whereby they spend a day (or two) in the Junior School participating in normal school activities. We would very much like to meet you so why not come and visit us soon.
